As we walk through the Bible together, there will be many fascinating questions that come up. As I turned from Genesis 2 to chapter 3, I wondered how long Adam and Eve were in the garden before they sinned. You might think that fascination with the lush, tropical paradise including a full zoo of friendly animals, plus each other (to say nothing of walking with God in the cool of the day) would have lasted at least a few weeks if not months. But it seems the serpent wasted no time.

This article from Answers in Genesis argues that it wasn’t very long since Genesis 4 describes the conception of Cain as Adam and Eve’s first child after they were expelled from the garden. Since they were perfectly fertile this would indicate it may have been the first day after that first Sabbath that they gave in to the serpent’s temptation. Ah, Mondays.
