4. The Lion Tamer

Daniel in the lion’s den is not your usual Christmas Sunday message, but Daniel actually points ahead to Jesus very clearly. First, he was the righteous servant of the Lord, innocent of the wrongs of which he was accused. Second, he was the faithful son of God, devoted to prayer. Third, Daniel foreshadowed the risen Savior by miraculously escaping death, even when his “tomb” was sealed with a heavy stone. As a faithful Jew, Daniel was also a witness to the one true God in the darkness of Babylon. Like the wise men in Matthew 2, Daniel gave his best to the Lord and his testimony invites everyone to follow the light God has given them to worship and serve Jesus!
