The Servant of the Lord

Isaiah preached the Word of the Lord 700 years before Jesus was born, foretelling judgment but also hope. Isaiah 40-66 include some of the most comforting and challenging passages in the whole Bible as they present a vivid description of “the Servant of the Lord.” In the first part of Isaiah 40 we see three messages the Servant is committed to preach: 1) to gently comfort God’s people; 2) to urgently warn all people and; 3) to proclaim the good news. Of course Jesus is the ultimate Servant of the Lord. The question is – are we faithful servants of the Lord? Are we committed to sharing these three messages as well?
