“I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes – first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
Romans 1:16
Clarity about Jesus gives us confidence to proclaim the gospel. Last week we saw that Jesus is the Unstoppable Savior – the ultimate prophet, priest and king! Clarity about who Jesus is fills us with joyful boldness to share the good news about Him. This Sunday we will study the Unstoppable Promise.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8
Feel the force of that promise: “You will be my witnesses.” That was specifically for Peter, James, John and the other apostles, but it applies to all of the believers who carried the gospel from Jerusalem wherever they went and it also applies to us today!
What Jesus commanded in the Great Commission, He promised in His last words on earth. We must make disciples of all nations. That is the mission our Master gave us. We will succeed at that mission because the Holy Spirit will empower us to preach the Gospel and train followers into disciplemakers.
Check out this 4 minute video from Pastor Matt Chandler. He expresses well what it means to be a church that not only makes converts but that trains disciplemakers.
