14. The Trumpets of Justice

Before the seventh seal is opened there is an interlude in Revelation 7 to mark those who belong to the Lord before His judgment falls. That theme of who truly belongs to the Lord continues in chapter 8. An angel with a golden censer shows us that our prayers rise before the Lord, who will bring justice one day. The first four trumpets bring purifying judgment to the land, sea, rivers and skies. But the censer gives us a clue that more is happening than just God’s justice falling on the world. It points us back to Numbers 16 for the story of Korah who tried to use a censer to make his case against Moses. Before you complain about God’s assignment for your life and work right now, read that account and see what the Lord says to you.
