2. The Incomparable God

Monotheism seems like an obvious doctrine to apply to our lives – to worship and serve only the one True God. But practically, just like Israel throughout its history, we all fall into polytheism and functional idolatry by loving, trusting and serving other things in addition to God or above Him. Isaiah 40 first presents the glory and comfort of God’s grace (“Behold your God!”) but then shifts to magnify His supremacy and confront our complacency with a series of penetrating questions. “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God!” Come be reminded of God’s absolute uniqueness: the One who is sovereign in power, supreme in wisdom and all-surpassing in glory!
