“And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ And I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.'”
Acts 26:14-15
Luke highlights the transformation of Saul the Pharisee into Paul the Apostle three times at length in the book of Acts. As we saw last week with the sending of the 12 and the 72, repetition in the Bible is never accidental. Paul’s story must be important for us to understand and relevant for us as we do ministry.
Your testimony is one of your best tools to share the gospel.
Often people who grow up in church downplay the power of their story because it feels commonplace. But your story is utterly unique! God worked in your life in ways He has not worked in anyone else, ever in history! If your church experience was so “boring” and tame that you learned a lot of Bible and were protected from a lot of sin then don’t be shy about your testimony – celebrate it!
An important skill for every Christian is clearly and briefly sharing how Jesus changed your life.
Practice your story this week – making sure that Jesus is the hero – and share it with one believer and one non-believer! Check out these Oakwood testimonies for some examples.
